As a self-proclaimed Trekkie (yes, I went in uniform), I just want to throw out there that I totally loved it. I thought they did a great job paying homage to the classic characters ("Oh for God's sake, I'm a doctor not a physicist!"), while at the same time letting the actors define a new tack for each character. It would have been totally lame if they had tried to out-Shatner the Shatner, or same for Nimoy. My only criticism is that they left out a lot of the philosophy of Star Trek, which is the main reason I like it (and in particular TNG for focusing on it), but the action did add some pop.
